The Rich History of the Whitsunday Sailing Club
Whitsunday Sailing Club was founded to promote sailing in the Whitsundays, foster a vibrant sailing community, and host premier regattas, training programs, and social events in the heart of Airlie Beach.
1971
Whitsunday Sailing Club was founded to promote sailing in the Whitsundays, serving as a hub for enthusiasts and maritime events.
1990
The Club and Don Algie launched Airlie Beach Race Week, now a major annual regatta and festival of sailing.
1998
The Whitsunday Maritime Training Centre (WMTC) was established and the club's commercial maritime division.
2021
Club members, sponsors, sailing enthusiasts, and the local community celebrate Whitsunday Sailing Club's official 50th birthday.
