Tackers is the perfect introduction to sailing for children aged 7–12, providing a safe, friendly, and fun environment to learn the basics on the water. Run in small groups and using specially designed junior boats, Tackers programs are all about building confidence, teamwork, and a love of sailing.
Tackers 1 is where the journey begins — no prior experience is needed. Young sailors learn how to steer, trim the sails, and control the boat, with games and activities making every session enjoyable.
Tackers 2 builds on these skills, giving children more time at the helm and introducing new techniques to improve boat handling. The focus remains on fun and participation, with plenty of encouragement to try new skills and explore the joy of sailing.
Tackers 3 is a chance for the kids to sail boats on their own, learning how to make the boat go faster and playing more games, all whilst still under the guidance and supervision of the Instructor and Assistant Instructors.
By the end of Tackers 1, 2 & 3, participants are ready to advance to the Green Fleet, continuing their sailing journey with more independence, skill development, and time on the water.
