Whitsunday Sailing Club is holding its inaugural Season Opening day and Sailing Expo from 11:00am – 3:00pm on Sunday 21 January 2018.

In addition to the official opening of the 2018 sailing season and sail past, the Sailing Expo will provide an opportunity for community members to meet with club members and see firsthand a range of sailing activities and club facilities.  The off-shore yachts “Sail past” will have an Australiana theme for yacht decorations. Obviously, prizes will be awarded for best decorated, best in theme, and best dressed crew.

Most importantly, there will also be opportunities for community members to go for a sail on one of the clubs off the beach dinghies or keelboats (weather permitting), including boats that are used for the club’s “learn to sail” programs. Sailing participation is by gold coin donation, with proceeds going to UNICEF, the official charity of the 2017 – 2018 Clipper Race.

Sailing is a suitable activity for everyone from age 9 to 90, and is a great family sport.  The Whitsunday Sailing Club offers a range of learn to sail courses for both adults and children, conducted by Australian Yachting Association qualified sailing instructors.

In addition, the Sailing Expo will include free entertainment for the whole family, and an opportunity to meet club sponsors and discuss their products and services.
